Anyone want to talk about the Spring game?

It was a relatively boring game, but I liked seeing that Feleipe Franks has taken great strides since this time a year ago. Kadarius Toney looks like an electrifying athlete that needs to find a way onto the field.

Analysts close to the team say that this team will look very different in the summer when Dre Massey (WR/KR), David Reese (LB), and Luke Del Rio (QB) return from injuries, and the incoming recruiting class starts to earn playing time--possibly starting roles.

The Gators are rather thin at cornerback this year with Duke Dawson and Chauncey Gardner being our best veterans. There are three 4-star CBs coming in this summer who might grab a starting role or earn significant playing time. The Orange and Blue Debut showed that Dawson might be our best corner, but he is a significant drop-off from Tabor and Wilson from last year. Throw in the new defensive coaches who were hiding our schemes from potential Michigan scouts, and we should see a very different Gator secondary from what we saw this weekend. The story is similar with the linebacker corps and safety positions.

What is troubling is the offensive line looking rather poor under the new OL coach. The DL looked pretty decent in its vanilla scheme.

Overall, the spring game did not tell us much about the team other than reassuring the fanbase that there is hope for improvement, and we should keep our eyes on Franks and Toney.
