Derrick Harvey came to Florida after being named a Parade All American out of Maryland. Derrick played defensive end for Urban Meyer's Florida Gators from 2005 to 2007, often sharing QB sack duties with Ray McDonald. Derrick's 11 sacks that season are 5th best in Gator history. In 2006 he was named 2nd team All-SEC, and MVP of the of the 2007 BCS National Championship game after key sacks on tOSU QB Troy Smith. As junior and team captain in 2007, he was again named to the 2nd team All SEC squad after 17 TFLs (10th best in Gator history). Derrick's final statistics: 36 games, 25 sacks (9th best), 51.5 TFL (3rd best), 90 tackles (59 solo), 3 fumbles caused, 3 fumble recoveries, 6 passes defended.
