Jeffrey Clay Mitchell played center for Steve Spurrier's Florida Gators from 1992 to 1996. Jeff came to Gainesville as a defensive expert, setting a school record for quarterback sacks and being named defensive player of the year by the St. Petersburg Times. After redshirting his freshman year, Jeff started at every game at center until graduation. He was named to the All SEC first team squad in 1995, and was a key member of the 1996 Bowl Alliance National Championship team as Danny Wuerffel's center. He was the 134th pick of the 1997 NFL Draft, and started 118 of 199 games in his 8-year NFL career. He was named to the University of Florida Athletic Association Hall of Fame as a Gator Great after retiring from the NFL.
