49 –Jeff Chandler, K (1997-2001)

Today's highlight as we count down the days is a kicker. Jeffrey Robin “Jeff” Chandler of Jacksonville, Florida was a walk-on kicker for Steve Spurrier in ’97. He earned a redshirt by kicking an extra point that year and was awarded a scholarship for the remainder of his college career. He completed 67/80 field goal attempts, and 167/ 180 points after touchdown. He is the all-time leader in FGs attempted, first in PATs made, second in FG percentage (83.8%), second in SEC points scored with 368, fourth in league history in FGs made and FG percentage. Jeff was first-team All-SEC ’99 and ’00, second-team All-American ’99, and Gator MVP in ’99.

Look at last year. One or two games we could have won with the right kicker. Jeff Chandler was clutch!

I would have to say that kicker is probably the most underrated position. I am sure a lot of teams in clutch moments would rethink their recruiting on such kickers.

Jeff Chandler was a dude at the kicking position.
