Brandon Spikes played linebacker for Urban Meyer's Florida Gators from 2006 to 2009. Mr. Spikes arrived in Gainesville as the #33 ranked high school prospect, #1 player out of North Carolina, and as a standout from the US Army All American Game. He saw limited action his freshman, BCS National Championship year as a backup to another Brandon, Mr. Siler (#92 Greatest Gator). In 2007 he was the #2 tackler in the SEC with 131 tackles, 81 solo, and 3rd in fumble returns for touchdown. He was named first team All SEC along with Tim Tebow.

As a team captain in his junior year of 2008, Mr. Spikes was first-team All SEC and a Consensus All-American, as well as being finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Lombardi Award and Chuck Bednarik Award. He led the team with 93 tackles, including 8.0 for a loss. He returned two interceptions for a touchdown tying the school record, and tied for 1st in the nation. He was a wrecking machine in the 2009 BCS National Championship game, with 7 tackles, 2 QB hurries, and a broken up pass.

As a senior team captain, he was one of three finalists for the 2009 Chuck Bednarik Award, the 2009 Butkus Award, All SEC selection, and a Consensus All American despite being suspended for an eye gouging incident. He was selected by the New England Patriots in the 2010 NFL Draft with the #62 overall pick.
