Larry Dupree played halfback and fullback for Ray Graves' Florida Gators from 1962 to 1964, but only after a last minute change of heart after initially committing to Georgia. He broke the then-school record for yardage gained by a sophomore in 1962, and ended his career second at the time on the Gators' all-time rushing list with 1,725 yards. Larry was a three-time All-SEC selection from 1962 to 1964, and an All-American as well as Fergie Ferguson Award winner in 1964. He set a school record for carries in a game (31 for 138 yards) and scored the game's only touchdown against Florida State in 1963 to keep the Gators undefeated (5-0-1) in the fresh rivalry. He was later named to the UAA Hall of Fame as a Gator Great.
