Typing away at the laptop…….
For those pining for some Gator news in the offseason, there was no shortage of such this past weekend. First off, HUGE congrats to one of my favorite current Gators, Jeff Demps, for his 100-meter men’s outdoor track title as well as for his being part of the winning men’s 4×100 relay team (kudos to Chris Rainey as well for being a part of that same quartet). The Gators also continued their streak of blocked punts against Kentucky when Chris Rainey ran one in for a touchdown in the first quarter. But the biggest story …

It may have been ugly. It might not have been what fans were expecting, but the Florida Gators opened their SEC schedule with a 23-13 win over the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday in The Swamp. With so much hype going into this game, combined with Urban Meyer’s knack for punishing opponents who talk trash, I thought the game would be a massive blowout topped with an embarassing moment for Lane Kiffin. Well, that didn’t happen.
The Vols put up a very tough fight on defense. They made our Heisman quarterback Tim …
