Despite hosting a Super Regional in Gainesville, Florida, the Gator baseball team will not advance to the College World Series. Their disappointing end to the season came on Sunday when Southern Miss scored three runs in the eighth inning to give them a 7-6 lead. The University of Florida baseball team learned on Monday afternoon that it was awarded the eighth national seed for the 2009 NCAA Baseball Tournament that begins on Friday at McKethan Stadium.
