Here is the GOOD NEWS:
And it IS "good news"--I have found myself concluding a number of conversations, here and elsewhere online, AND in person with my various college football fans, Gator and the rest (lots of latter, of course) here in Austin, with a simple, heartfelt truth that I realize is THE UTTER, "Bottom Line" TRUTH:
"THIS IS THE FUN PART COMING NOW. From now ON"...Oh, it'll be a HELLUVA ride, the next couple of years,. But now we can be sure--and will be able to point back to yesterday's game as, if not the turning point, the point we REALIZED that a "turning point" had been reached and passed. From here on, through triumph, setback, disappointment and joyous redemption, we WILL be climbing ever onward and upward, eventually to the very top.
Ride the RIDE, Gators: This IS "the fun part". If it wasn't hard, anyone could do it. If it were nothing but positives, how would we know its value? Where would be the source of the great pride we will feel when we get there?
