The University of Florida has a rich history with the armed forces, with thousands of graduates who have served over the years. 10,000 students and alumni served in World War 2 alone. Various buildings around campus are named for military Veterans.

William (Bill) Walden Corry was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery in World War 2, and is the namesake of Naval Station Corry in Pensacola, Florida. You may recognize his name as the namesake of the married housing complex. Hubert Schucht also died in service to this nation, and he has another campus housing complex named in his Honor. You may recognize Stephen C. O'Connell as the namesake of the basketball arena, but did you know that in addition to being a Florida Supreme Court Justice that he also served in the U.S. Army and was a good friend of Bill Corry?
