Apparently the fans read too much into rumors. Dan Mullen was the primary candidate for the Florida coaching position all along, but Scott Stricklin wanted to take the time to investigate all the options. Chip Kelly was initially ruled out, but UF officials took two trips to take to him without extending an offer. Chip Kelly did not seem interested in a high profile position after being away from coaching college football since 2012. Scott Frost way under consideration, with the understanding that he would leave for Nebraska if the position came open--which it did. Mike Gundy was considered, but was not extended an offer.
All this nonsense about whiffing on Kelly and Frost is just fan talk. Mullen was the guy all along, but Stricklin followed the process to make sure everyone agreed.
