Beyond The Arc: 3 takeaways from UF’s 80-76 overtime win against Georgia

Some observations following UF’s 80-76 overtime win against Georgia:

— Florida is now 7-0 since going to a starting lineup of Kevarrius Hayes at center with Justin Leon, Devin Robinson, Kasey Hill and KeVaughn Allen. But given the recent slow starts in wins over Tennessee and Georgia and the play of Canyon Barry and Keith Stone off the bench, it may be time to consider replacing Robinson and Leon with Barry and Stone in the starting lineup. “When you’re winning, it’s a factor for me that we’re sitting here at 5-0 (in the SEC),” White said. “We’ll continue to consider it, of course.”

— Florida sophomore guard KeVaughn Allen is going to continue to need to learn how to better handle double teams. Allen went 3 of 8 from the floor and at times forced shots off the dribble instead of driving and looking for open players on the perimeter.

— Three weeks ago, Florida junior forward Devin Robinson looked like he was on the cusp of a breakout season. But Robinson could play himself back on the bench if he doesn’t wake up from his lackadaisical play. Robinson’s inability to control a free-throw rebound and dribble it out of bounds resulted in what amounted to an early five-point play for Georgia. It’s time for the 6-foot-8 Robinson to do some soul searching and use his athleticism to impact the game like he did in UF’s SEC opening win at Arkansas.
