After everything that has (collapse against Tennessee) and HASN'T happened (like, practically any Gator offense) this season so far, we nonetheless find ourselves at a true "turning point" in next week's game. Win at the "Party" in Jacksonville and it'll mean at least a couple/few more of the same, games that really MEAN something, the rest of the way.
Key to this one AND the rest of the season, imho, will be whether or not our COACH lives up to one of main reasons he got the job here in the first place--his record and rep as an OFFENSIVE mastermind: It is time, PAST time, he held his OC's feet to the fire to help come up with a truly creative gameplan on that side of the ball...They have the extra week off AND Luke's extra heal time to get some things done here and our get our currently best qb healthy and ready.
Let's keep it simple and leave it at that for now. But if we see little progress, there'll be a LOT more to say--especially if another good defensive performance is wasted (or worse, is put under so much pressure by repeated 3-and-outs by a plodding Gator O that it finally collapses late, as happened against the Vols). I suspect this will be a growing theme the rest of the way, I'm afraid--but it hasn't in fact HAPPENED yet, and as I noted at the start here, after everything so far we DO still now have a CHANCE to buck up, make do with where we are and what we have, and accomplish some things, MAKE something of this season after all.
So. Here we go.
GO GATORS!!!
