In Billy Donovan’s final season, Florida remained among the upper tier in college basketball attendance in 2014-15 season.

Florida ranked 38th nationally and fifth in the SEC, averaging 10,570 fans per game in 16 dates despite a disappointing 16-17 season.

Based on tickets sold, Florida was at 87.5 percent capacity in the 12,000-seat O’Connell Center. Florida had four sellouts last season, all on weekend SEC home games against Mississippi State, Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Had Florida sold out all its home dates, the maximum ranking it could have achieved was 31st nationally, behind Utah (12,101).

In the SEC, Kentucky ranked second nationally in attendance (23,572) behind just Syracuse (23,854). Arkansas (11th, 15,519), Tennessee (13th, 15,604) and South Carolina (33rd, 11,520). All four schools play in larger buildings. Alabama came in just behind Florida at sixth in the SEC and 40th nationally, averaging 10,117 in Anthony Grant’s final season.

Florida delayed a $60 million renovation of the O’Connell Center one year based on a change in contracting companies. The school is currently negotiating with Brasfield & Gorrie in an attempt to bring costs in line with the project.
