Florida building strong 2015 class

When Noah Dickerson committed to Florida last Sunday, it added another significant piece to UF’s 2015 recruiting class.

“They have a good class, man,” Scout.com national recruiting analyst Evan Daniels said. “They are starting to add quite a few quality post players and he’s just another one of them.”

Including USF transfer John Egbunu, Florida’s 2015 class features three players taller than 6-foot-8. Dickerson is 6-8, 245 pounds, while forward Kevarrius Hayes is 6-9, 190 pounds and Egbunu is 6-10, 245 pounds.

Dickerson should continue to grow and develop at Montverde Academy in Clermont, the same school that produced current UF sophomore point guard Kasey Hill. Scout.com ranks the four-star Dickerson as the 66th best recruit in the Class of 2015.

“Dickerson is a good addition,” Daniels said. “He’s got legit size, tremendous hands, very good touch around the basket, capable of making mid-range jump shots. I think he can help them in the post.”

But the rising star of the class could be in the backcourt. After an exceptional showing at the Peach Jam last month, 6-foot-2 guard KeVaughn Allen rose from 91 to 55 in the nation in Scout’s rankings. The North Little Rock, Ark., guard shot 51.7 percent from 3-point range during the tournament and averaged more than 22 points per game.

“I always knew he was a tremendous athlete,” Daniels said. “He has a lot of potential to be a real good on-the-ball defender. He’s tough, he’s hard-nosed, he’s quick.

“What he showed at Peach Jam this year was an ability to shoot the basketball. His jump shot has clearly improved. And I think that’s a big deal. That’s clearly expanded his game.”
