Big Plans: Lots to be done, Little we can do about it

Now begins the long wait, months I want to slow down and enjoy, weather- and experience-wise, but at the same time, at the back of my mind is that "Can't wait", "Let's hurry up and get TO this"-feeling, right there at the pit of my gut.
I hope we get and stay healthy. I hope that the whole "strength and conditioning" regimen (and let's face it--no matter what they call it, these next couple-of-months or so are really SO much more than that) is in that "goldilocks zone" (far from easy, building them towards greater and greater physical and emotional toughness without overdoing things, burning them out), and that everything and everyone involved, from players ready, willing and fully motivated, to coaches (particularly the only one now in direct charge and contact, in whose hands the rest have now placed THEIR plans and eventual goals), all arrive intact and on-pace come team-workouts this summer. I guess we're ALL playing the "hurry-up-and-wait"-game now.
As I say, now we wait and see.
OK. Now's a good, "show some cajones/no one's gonna hold you to it" time to pick a number, give it a know-very-little/hope-for-a-lot call... If all goes pretty well healthwise, here's my projection, from the gut rather than the head: 9-3, plus-or-minus 2 games...No way we go undefeated no matter what, but if the breaks go about even, that's how I see it turning out--as bad as 7-5 if things DON'T work out so well, 11-1 if they practically ALL break our way, but it all starts with that 9-3-number, that I just have a feeling about.

I think the Gators will struggle to get 10-2. That does not mean much, because I thought the same thing last year. Having Alabama and Forced Sex University as away games puts us at a 50/50 proposition even before we see what the team looks like on Day 1. It will be tough to beat LSU after having physical games against Alabama and Tennessee. If we lose to Georgia, I will start up the firewillmuschamp.com site myself.

@Escambia94,
You know, E-, you have pretty well rationalized with logic and probabilities what I somehow arrived at WITHOUT any of that--at least not with any conscious consideration, at any rate: I really had given no deep analysis in getting to my "9-3, +/- 2 games" number, just somehow came up with it WITHOUT really thinking it through game-by-game. Seemed like a "good idea" at the time, and now I see how it might well be about how things fall for a talented, resurgent-but-tough-scheduled '14 Gator squad. And if things DO come out that way, I''m with you: It'll come down to the Cocktail Party, as far as how I feel about things overall. I guess I just assumed we HAD to take it this year--and if we don't well, then to hell with all the talk...a 4 or 5-loss Gator team that includes another UGA-loss on its record will find ME in the "Goodbye Will"-camp too!

I can't taken a season like last year. But honestly as much as I want to be positive and say we have this and that I got a feeling it isn't going to be a great year, just a gut feeling. I think roper will be a big difference but if muschamp won't give him the o and leave him alone and if driskel doesn't turn into the hype he was in high school we will be screwed, and honestly I don't see either one of those things happening. Just saying I wouldn't have to high of hopes for this season.

The more I look at it, the more I am thinking 9-3 instead of 10-2. Mizzou seems to be reloading even after changing coaches. UGA is focusing a lot on defense, and may beat us yet again.

I understand and likewise feel your dark uncertainty--In fact, the real point I was making here is that I don't know HOW to feel, and that 9-3 number is more or less a hopeful "gut-feeling" based on the excitement of all the promising aspects of a new season on the way (...at this point seemingly plodding towards us). We could do worse, clearly, but for all the same reasons there seems a "hope springs eternal" chance we might do better than that, too--but things would have to all line up on the "good side" of your conditions, aweb, can't argue with you there.

Yeah, we all seem to be swirling around the same basic assessment: A lot of things could happen, fall either way, and it's hard to feel certain of ANYTHING--except this: It's put-up or shut-up time for this regime AND a seemingly star-crossed team, full of incoming talent fleshing out a whole lot of "great promise", mixed with a bunch of (whatever the reasons) "not-having-materialized-so-far".

Just hope that Winston does something stupid before the Fresh Seafood University game.
He will do something stupid, and get away with it. If everything that Winston did happened in Gainesville, we would have NCAA sanctions by now.
