Added nuggets from UF’s Final Four season

Some added notes to wrap up UF’s Final Four season:

– For the second straight season, Florida finished first in the Southeastern Conference and third in the nation in scoring defense, giving up just 57.8 points. Florida allowed just 54.4 points per game in 2013, but given rules emphasis designed to open up offense, the gain was not significant.

– Also for the second straight year, Florida has a player lead the SEC in 3-point shooting percentage. In 2013, it was senior forward Erik Murphy, who shot a league-best 45.3 percent from 3-point range. In 2014, it was sophomore guard Michael Frazier II, who shot an SEC-best 44.7 percent from beyond the arc.

– Patric Young became just the 11th player in UF history to finish his career with more than 1300 points and 800 rebounds (1307 points, 849 rebounders). Young finished his senior season scoring a career-best 11.0 points per game.

– Florida finished the 2014 season 14-2 in games decided by singe digits and 7-1 in games decided by five points or less. In 2013, Florida went 0-6 in games decided by single digits and 0-4 in games decided by five points or less. The ability to pull out close games was the biggest reason why the Gators were able to break through and reach the Final Four for the fifth time in program history after having their three previous seasons end in the Elite Eight.
