One game at a time. The SOW game is a couple weeks away. Ponder can take a lot of steroids or see a cheap acupuncture.

If it's "cheap acupuncture", all the better! (I'm a convert, a full believer in EFFECTIVE oriental-based acupuncture now, thanks to help I got with an old injury--but like anything, for every expert there are numerous mediocrities, and worse--and THEY can set one up for a "fall", in the truest sense.)

What I REALLY want to address here is Zooker's sudden liberal use of the expression "all wrapped up":
How many big games down the road are you going to "call" in this fashion, man? At least when you said it about the Gamecocks the game was this week. If you recall, my problem was not so much with you saying it, but with then dismissively turning to how to beat Auburn in the SEC Championship. I'd be uncomfortable with folks talking about the Appalachian State game in this way ("one game at a time", etc.); to make this claim again with the 'Noles and what is always our last regular season game (and the proverbial "you can throw the records out"-game, BTW) strikes me as dangerous in every way.
You know what you were saying about not messing with Steve Spurrier's emotions and/or sharp tongue?
Call me superstitious (though I swear there is both logic and empirical results that back me up), but I'd multiply that by a THOUSAND regarding not tempting the "Football Fates".

You wait. You will be grading out the Zooker as a CHAMPION with these picks. Just kidding. One game at a time. We have to win this one in order to "save the season".

I only place bets late in the season for a reason. I'm always right. I stay away from title games and bowl games though.

I used to gamble on EVERYTHING, including college football--and not always in the Sports Books of Vegas, either...one thing you learn though is "NEVER BET WITH YOUR EMOTIONS"--so I stayed away from Gator games. Mostly. Pre-Spurrier, this was easy (and mostly smart), but later, well, I road the roller-coaster, ya know?
I don't gamble that much anymore (I'll go to the track now and again, do pools and such with friends and co-workers, and then there's my weakness for Texas Hold 'Em--which sometimes I am tempted to get serious about and make my "retirement plan", but that's another story), and without it, I've lost a lot of my interest in different sports, especially the pros, and especially ESPECIALLY the NFL (which seems MADE for gambling--gosh, that sure is strange and unexpected, ain't it?).
Funny thing is, my interest in COLLEGE football is more intense than ever. I couldn't be more jazzed when the Gators win or bummed when they lose. Don't need to add money to that equation; this season is already turning me bipolar).
(I could NEVER bet against the Gators, anyway--another of those superstition/"mojo hex-thing"/ whatever-I-don't-want-to-f***-with-it things that go on the ever-lengthening list.)

I don't believe in luck or jinxes. I will bet against any team if it makes me money. It's up to the team I am betting against to work for the win. Truth be told, I hate betting for or against the Gator football team because it fails to cover the spread in most cases. FSU on the other hand--they rarely win close ones unless it's against a Florida team. Otherwise, they cover the spread, win or lose.

There's a reason they have all those fancy hotels in vegas. The house always wins in the long run. Worst thing I've ever done is gotten caught up in betting on the Gators. It's too hard to bet against them when you probably should...I always do better when I bet on games I have NO emotion in.

Scoff if you like, and CALL it whatever you wish, but there ARE "strange" (as in unexplained thus far by science) forces at work right here in our cosmos (ever looked into Heisenberg, Shroedinger and the latest musings in quantum physics? It doesn't GET any "stranger")--and until there's a machine to measure them, "feelings" and intuition are the only way we can tap into it all...something to do with a kind of "feedback loop" between cause and effect (according to the latest mathematics, these can happen in EITHER DIRECTION). In this way, probabilities become just the surface representation of huge and deeply complex forces that, like everything else, change with your participation--whenever you make a choice you change the outcome, from among the formerly "infinite number of outcomes" that once were possible.
In other words, ya gotta be careful what you wish for--and what ya choose!

Ah. Quantum mechanics. I used to work on lasers and quantum cryptography in the Air Force. I see where you are going, but the wave equation states there are an infinite number of possible outcomes until the decision has been made. Every single infinite possibility is an independent event, each with its own line of causality. That means that my betting against the Gators does not necessarily influence their winning or losing, and if it did, the probability of betting against the Gators affecting the outcome is equal to the probability of my betting for them affecting the outcome, provided I do not interfere with the measurement by going to the game and shooting one of the players or something like that. Even the Butterfly Effect could be invoked to show that my bet could affect the outcome, but the P[E] would be the same whether I bet for or against because they are binary opposites outside the field of measurement.

I prefer just to analyze each team's personnel and how they match up against each other, along with the coaching staff, team momentum, and how each team's situation fits into the overall story of the season.

@ Escambia94:
...AND the waveform collapses as soon as you make a choice--but for our purposes here (ie. making a bet vs. affecting the outcome) the important (theoretical) effect (ie. the actual outcome of the event in question--to wit, the winner of the contest) is still in the balance until you actually DO something.
Do you merely have to be an observer, or an actor, here? And what about all the OTHER "actors" and "observers? Whew! Gets pretty esoteric, no?
Thing is though, my point originally was that intuition can be your path through the quantum quagmire--the only one we've got thus far. Mine says that "outside the field of measurement" it may be, but that it's dangerous (in this case to our Gators, which is all I care about here) to screw with the POSSIBLE outcome.

Wasn't Ponder in the Heisman talk at the start of the season?

Thanks to the folks at Rivals. As I've mentioned before, that site was started by FSU folks. They always have a slant in favor of FSU players and coaches. They still think he is going to get drafted in the first round too.

It's all we've got left, pride-wise. But I'm thinking big-picture now, so for the first time EVER I am actually contemplating leaning towards a GATOR LOSS. Against the 'Noles. Can't believe it has come to this, but it may be the only way to raise enough anger in Gator Nation (and, most importantly, in certain powerful circles) to get at LEAST Addazio moved out of there--and, quite possibly, a Meyer resignation (he might just walk away rather than fire Addazio, if he were put in that position; THAT'S how much he has "gone around the bend", and strayed from his own "Plan To Win"). In order to begin to fix things and begin our road back we MUST have the former, and I'm sorry, but the latter hardly fills me with fear and concern as it once did.
We''ll be fine either way--much more so than if Meyer stays, Addazio stays, Brantley stays, we stumble thru' AT BEST another .500 season--but "everybody grades out as champions, don't you forget it!"
