Meyer on verge of contract deal

"University of Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley said he expects football coach Urban Meyer to sign the six-year, $24 million contract both agreed to last August just ahead of the start of summer practice.

The signing will cap a roller-coaster 11 months for the Florida football coach and program, which saw an emotionally drained Meyer quit last December, only to stage an about-face a day later. Meyer and Florida officials finalized the contract extension Aug. 3, but it was never signed."

This is a good sign that Urban's health is back and stable. Signing him long term is the best move for the Gators. Should also silence all those "OMG MEYER TO NOTRE DAME!" rumors that surface every few months.

Urban's staying put in Gainesville for awhile. I honestly don't see him going anywhere else, and once he decides to call it a career as far as coaching football is concerned that's pretty much it. As far a recruits go, they should have no doubts about Coach Meyer being at UF and his state of health, unless they hear some stupid crap from a rival camp, rumor mill or other "source" intent on being disruptive.

He has probably the best job in college football right now; as long as he keeps enjoying the level of success he's at right now he has nothing to worry about.
