Not exactly sure what a "quality control assistant" DOES on a coaching staff; I'm NOT "against" the idea, of course (it SOUNDS like a good thing--who ISN'T in favor of more "quality", or having soneone doing things to, well, "keep an eye on it"? Improve it, if possible--but is this something I've missed? A position prevalent all over the place in one form or another, detail-oriented, maybe even called other things in other places even--but one I just hadn't been aware of?

Quality control coaches do the long range analysis on upcoming opponents. This is how Jon Gruden got his start in the NFL. In college, these coaches are usually former college coordinators.

Thanks. Mean it: For example, I KNEW Jon Gruden "did something LIKE that" in his early days on college staffs--but to be honest I wasn't aware of his (or like-reponsibilitied individuals') actual position(s), and for SURE was unaware of one actually labelled "quality control" that applied to what is clearly an important, wide-ranging and altogether flexible job.
