CHICAGO -- A 19-year-old man was charged Thursday with killing his girlfriend's father in a brutal attack on the city's Northwest Side, authorities said.
Robert Belz, who was living with his girlfriend and her father in the 5100 block of West Carmen, faces homicide charges for attacking the victim with a baseball bat, trying to smother him and then stabbing him in the neck, according to investigators.
Belz was charged Thursday with first-degree murder, according to Police News Affairs officer David Banks.
Jeffery Klimala, 47, of 5130 W. Carmen Ave. died of cranial cerebral injuries due to blunt trauma, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Kilmala was assaulted and multiple stab and incise wounds contributed to his death, according to a report from the medical examiner's office, which ruled the death a homicide.
The attack happened Monday, police said, but it was not reported until Wednesday.
Investigators are trying to determine whether the motive was money. Grand Central Area detectives are continuing the investigation. Apparently the victim's body, the suspect and his girlfriend all remained in the home until the crime was reported.
Klimala was pronounced dead at 7:50 a.m. Thursday at the Stein Institute, according to the medical examiner's office.
Belz will appear in Violence Court in the Cook County Courthouse, 2600 S. California Blvd. Friday, police news affairs said.
and what the report does mention is that the man was disabled, and as the topic says i actually know the suspect, not that im taking his defense, but i knew he had some mental/emotional problems but i never imagined bobby doing something like this
