Gator Softball Gets Rocked by UCLA

Just when I go and say the Florida Gators softball team has a great shot at winning the Women’s College World Series they go and get romped by No. 5 seed UCLA in one of the worst beat downs in Gator softball history. I wonder if I jinxed them? The Gators (48-9) lost by a final score of 3-16 and now will have to work their way through the losers bracket if they want to win it all.

Comin’ at ya on a sunny Saturday morning from the Magic City……..
First off, HUGE congrats go out to our Gator baseball team for winning the regular season SEC title; here’s hoping they can make it back to Omaha for the CWS. Congrats to Jeff Demps on his stellar track season; can’t wait to see him back in action on the football field this fall! Mark your calendar! I’m blogging about something other than Gator football, basketball and baseball. When the Florida Gators capture an SEC title it tends to grab my attention. This time it was the No. 3 Florida Gators men’s outdoor track team that defeated the field to bring home a conference championship. Gator football star running back Jeff Demps led the way with an individual title in the men’s 100-meter dash. The Florida Gators captured the NCAA indoor title earlier this year.

I love The Players. Living in Jacksonville, I have the opportunity every year to attend The Players and watch the world’s best golfers complete. Usually my wife and I just follow some of the big names like Tiger, Phil and Furyk. This year it will probably be different, I think we’ll spread out some and watching a lot of the younger guys and see more golf. Maybe we’ll even follow a few of the Gators on the course right now. There are four former Gators playing in The Players: Camilo Villegas, Brian Gay, Mark Calcavecchia, and Chris Couch.

Typing away at the laptop while taking a lunch break…..
Hard to believe the Winter Olympics are already over; aside from the pre-opening ceremonies tragedy involving the luger from Georgia (Nodar Kumaritashvili) being killed on a training run, Vancouver deserves to be highly commended on a job well done. Based on the fact that the United States and Canada brought in the lion’s share of the total medals as well as staged impressive championship hockey games, albeit with Team USA settling for silver medals in both the men’s and women’s finals, …
