There’s a lot to it, but in our realm, it’s basically a fun way to follow what our favorite Gator players are up to. I’m pretty sure Coach Urban Meyer and Billy Donovan have policies in place for current players to not use Twitter. It would be a mess trying to have the UAA monitor what all the athletes are saying and making sure no rules are broken.

But I was able to find a list of several Gator players (current and former) that are on Twitter. These accounts appear to be authentic, even though some of them haven’t been updated in awhile. One person you won’t find on this list is Tim Tebow. It will be interesting to see if he joins Twitter now that his eligibility is up. I would love to follow him.

Gator Envy recently had the opportunity to sit down with (err… talk over email with) one of Gainesville’s finest. No, not a police officer. I’m talking about music sensation Cadillac Slim, the man behind the famous Gator Chomp Anthem. This is my absolute favorite Gator song out there. Cadillac Slim was kind enough to give Gator Envy an mp3 so all of you can download this song for your iPods and mp3 players.

When listening, try not to get caught up in the chorus and the beat. You really need to listen to the lyrics. He drops names like Tebow, Spikes, Dunlap, Wright, Jenkins and CI.

You can find Cadillac Slim on myspace at: http://www.myspace.com/gatorchompanthem
You can download the Gator Chomp Anthem here: http://www.gatorenvy.com/go/the-gator-chomp.mp3 (right click, save as)

Gator Envy: First off, I’ve got to know… where did the name Cadillac Slim come from?

Well To Make A Long Story Short People Says My Ways Are Smooth As A Cadillac Some Would Say.

Gator Envy: What inspired you to write the Gator Chomp Anthem?

I Been A Life Long Gator Fan Well Since I Was 5 Years Old. Yep Back When Emmit Smith Was Here In 1989 I Was 5 Then.

Gator Envy: Have you always been a Gator fan?

Yes. But I Once Also Was An Alabama Fan As Well As A Gator. But Then Gator Fans Said I Coudn’t Be Both Back In 93 So I Chose My Hometown Team The Florida Gators.

Gator Envy: How long have you been into music?

Since A Lil Kid I love Music Everything From Aerosmith to 2-pac to The Fray to Micheal Jackson to Kanye West to Andre 3000. Well I Just Like All Music From Rap,Rock,Pop&R&B. And I Record Music In All those Genres.

Gator Envy: What’s your favorite Gator game of all time?

Wow Um I Gotta Say The UF Vs FSU Game In 1997 At The Swamp. I Remember It Like It Was Yesterday. We Came In That Game With A Record Of 8-2 And Not Even Ranked In The Top 10 And FSU Came In That Game 10-0 and Ranked #1. Had FSU Beat Us They Would Have Played For The National Championship And O How Sweet It Was To Beat FSU To Prevent Them From Going To The National Championship. I Will Never Forget That. The Greatest Game Ever In The Swamp Was Played On That Day. And Yes I Do Know About The UF vs South Carolina 06 Block Field Goal, But Still It Does Not Top That Game In 97 upsetting FSU.

Gator Envy: Who is your favorite Gator defensive player?

Right Now It’s Brandon Spikes. But If u Are Talking Bout The Past Then I Gotta Say John Youngblood & My Cousin Mike Peterson. LOL

Gator Envy: What makes a good football player?

A Guy That’s A Team Player A Leader On & Off The Field And Is A Great Role Model To Kids. That’s A Good Football Player To Me. Oh Yeah And He Gotta Have That “It” Factor.

Gator Envy: What’s the best thing about going to the Swamp on gameday?

O Man It Gotta Be The Tailgating & The Gator Walk. Thank You Urban Meyer For Starting The Gator Walk

Gator Envy: If you got another chance to make one decision you’ve made in your life, which one would it be and why?

To Not Drop Out Of College. Though I Can Always Go Back & Finish.

Gator Envy: If the Gators win the BCS again this year can we expect a Gator Chomp Anthem Part II?

Hell Yeah. Wooooooo Go Gatorssssssssssssss Also I Will Be Making A Gator Girl Song Soon for All My UF And Gator Girls Out There. Go Gators

Alright folks… there you have it. It’s on the Gator football team now to win the BCS Championship so we can have another Gator Chomp Anthem.

Thanks again to Cadillac Slim for the interview and providing the mp3 for his Gator Anthem song.

You can find Cadillac Slim on myspace at: http://www.myspace.com/gatorchompanthem
You can download the Gator Chomp Anthem here: http://www.gatorenvy.com/go/the-gator-chomp.mp3 (right click, save as)

And what will I be tweeting about you ask? Mostly Gator stuff: player news, score updates, etc… plus things going on with the site, like if we’re running a new contest.

We’re entering the slow summer months, so there won’t be much going on, but I expect it to be very active once football season rolls around.

Welcome to the new Gator Envy homepage! I’ve spent a lot of time redesigning the homepage to give our visitors a better user experience. The previous version was dull and lacked fresh, indepth content. Now you can easily see that the homepage has a magazine-style blog theme to it.

Directly at the top of the page you will see our “Headline” post, which will get changed out once or twice a week. Just to the right, you will find the schedules for our football, baseball, and basketball teams.

Below that, you will see several categories where our articles will fall into. Several times a week, we will post articles about Gator sports. Not all of the articles will be “headlines”, but you will still be able to find them on the homepage. Similar to this post you’re reading now.

Access to all your favorite parts of Gator Envy are still readily available on the new homepage design. Forum access, along with other great Gator Envy activities, can be found in the top green navigation bar. On the right, you will find polls, recent posts, youtube videos, fan zone items. and our blogroll.

Also, if you need to contact us, there are several ways to do so. You can e-mail us or you can find Gator Envy on Facebook and Myspace.
