New School Year and a New GatorZone

The University of Florida Fall Semester starts today. Welcome back to school Florida Gators! And a special welcome to all incoming freshman. It’s been 5 years since I last stepped foot into a classroom on campus at UF. Those were some of the best days of my life. Not only is Florida a great school academically, but the tradition and sports fever are second to none. To go along with the start of a new school year, the University of Florida Athletics Association rolled out a new design for their official athletics site, GatorZone.

I’m sure by now, all of you know what Twitter is. There’s a lot to it, but in our realm, it’s basically a fun way to follow what our favorite Gator players are up to. I’m pretty sure Coach Urban Meyer and Billy Donovan have policies in place for current players to not use Twitter. It would be a mess trying to have the UAA monitor what all the athletes are saying and making sure no rules are broken.

The Gator Chomp

Gator Envy recently had the opportunity to sit down with (err… talk over email with) one of Gainesville’s finest. No, not a police officer. I’m talking about music sensation Cadillac Slim, the man behind the famous Gator Chomp Anthem. This is my absolute favorite Gator song out there. Cadillac Slim was kind enough to give Gator Envy an mp3 so all of you can download this song for your iPods and mp3 players.

Twitter is the hottest new social network, and gives us the ability to delivery Gator news to fans within seconds. It’s like an evolved chat room we were all addicted to in the 90s.
