Hard to believe we’re only two days away from the start of fall practice; in spite of the wait there hasn’t been a shortage of news about Gator football this past offseason. Our team will be missing some familiar faces with the departures of Tim Tebow, Joe Haden et al, but thanks to the awesome recruiting of Urban Meyer and his staff we’ve reloaded our roster with talent to take us into the future. Today is Urban Meyer’s 46th birthday, and as a Gator fan I can’t think of a better birthday present for him than this heartfelt tribute.
Since that day in December 2004 when his hiring was made official to replace the fired Ron Zook, I felt that Coach Meyer’s coming to Gainesville was the best choice for Florida football – and I’m glad Jeremy Foley won him over from the competition coming from that school up north on the southern coast of Lake Michigan in northern Indiana with the infamous golden dome. …
