SEC Tournament: Round 1, Auburn

The SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament tips off today in Nashville, Tennessee. #4 seed Florida will play #5 seed Auburn at 7:30 p.m. EST in the third game of the day, and will be televised on the SEC Network. Florida went 6-0 against the SEC West this season, including a 78-70 win over Auburn earlier this year in Gainesville. The Gators are currently 20-11, 9-7 SEC and on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament – there’s no doubt… they must win tonight vs. Auburn.

Gators Close Hoops Season With A Loss

The Florida Gators finished out the 2009-2010 men’s basketball regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 66-74 loss to the No. 3 Kentucky Wildcats. No one was giving the Gators a chance to win that game in Lexington, but it still sucks to see our team close off the season with three straight losses. That is definitely not going to sit well in the minds of the NCAA Tourney voters. The Gators will now travel to Nashville on March 11 for the SEC Tournament. They’ll have to win a game or two here to ensure a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Just when you think the Gators are on the right track, we go and do something stupid like losing to a Georgia team with only 12 wins. The Bulldogs defeated the Gators by a final score of 76-78 at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens. The Gators are now 20-9 overall and 9-5 in the SEC. Their next game is against Vanderbilt in Gainesville – a tough game, and possibly most win for the Gators.

Gators Crush Tennessee, 75-62

We did it! The Florida Gators took charge and won a must-win game at home against the No. 17 ranked Tennessee Volunteers by a final score of 75-62. I believe the Gators were No. 51 in the RPI before this game, but should rocket into the 40s after last night’s performance. Florida is now 20-8 overall (9-4 SEC), making it their twelfth straight 20-win season. If they can just win one more game they should be Tournament bound.

The Florida Gators men’s basketball team has a HUGE game against the Tennessee Vols on Tuesday night in Gainesville. The Vols come into the game ranked No. 19 in the country, with the same SEC record (8-4) as the Gators. Florida ia definitely on the bubble right now and must beat Tennessee to have a chance at the NCAA Tournament. Tip off is scheduled for 9pm on ESPN.
