Sugar Bowl Bound

The Florida Gators (12-1) slipped to No. 5 in the country with their loss to Alabama in the SECCG. So the Gators will not be playing in the BCS Championship Game that we were all hoping for, but we will stll get a BCS Bowl game. The University of Florida football team accepted an invitation to play Big East Champion Cincinnati (12-0) in the 2010 Allstate Sugar Bowl Classic on Jan. 1, 2010, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, La.

2009 Sugar Bowl Tickets are available for purchase – and we’re expecting a big crowd. “Our team is looking forward to playing in the Sugar Bowl and knows that The Gator Nation will be there in force to support the winningest senior class in SEC history,” head coach Urban Meyer said.

The Cincinnati Bearcats (12-0) are a very good team – had Texas lost in the Big 12 Championship Game, then the Bearcats would be playing Alabama. It will be fun to see how a Big East team matches up with the SEC. It will also be interested to see how the Florida Gators respond to that beat down Bama layed on us. Will they be deflated (like Alabama was last year in their Bowl Game against Utah) or will they be pumped up and ready to wreck the Bearcats season?

As the game approaches, we’ll get into more details of the matchup.
