Gator Men’s Basketball

It’s hard to believe that Gators men’s basketball has already started. The Gators opened the 2009-2010 season with Stetson on Sunday night at the O’Connell Center. Florida won the game easily by a score of 74-46. The gators look to improve their record to 2-0 against Georgia Southern tonight.

You’re starting five for 2009 are:
F- Dan Werner
F- Alex Tyus
C- Vernon Maclin
G- Kenny Boynton
G- Erving Walker

Maclin saw his first live action as a Gator on Sunday and put up 13 points and 8 rebounds. I would love it if he keep up this statline through the entire season. Maclin was brought in the be a big-time inside presence and if his performance against Stetson is any indictation of how he’ll play down the line then Gator fans will be very happy.

Unless Werner or Tyus get injured, it looks like Chandler Parsons will continue to come off the bench. He still racked up 24 minutes (more than Werner) on Sunday and score 14 points. I wouldn’t mind seeing Parsons move to the starting lineup if he keeps this up.
